Hello Event Ninjas!
Would you like a little insight into some of my pre-event rituals that help me bring my A Game on event day and get there with the least amount of stress possible?
Watch this week’s episode for my full description and for a quick overview keep reading below.
In the lead up to an event there are always last minute changes and stressors that you don’t have control over. The good news is that there are some elements of stress you do have control over (and can reduce entirely) and those my event planning friends are all to do with YOU.

Clothes, clothes, clothes
The last thing you want to be thinking about after a late night in the office the night before an event is “What am I going to wear tomorrow?”
Could the below reduce the stress of this situation?

Plan your event wardrobe in advance Drop your event clothes (dress, shirts, pants) at the dry cleaner before your event so they are clean, pressed and ready to go

Food, food, food
We need healthy food to fuel our brains and bodies in the lead up to and also at the event.
Could you:

Take a few hours on a weekend to pre-cook your lunches and dinners for a few days? Order your groceries on-line? Make sure you have some healthy snacks on hand?

Sleep, sleep, sleep
I know there are sometimes unavoidable late nights at the office, so the week leading up to your event set yourself a bed time and stick to it.
Give your brain and body time to rest and recover by getting to bed at a reasonable time. A hot bath before bed can also help you fall to sleep and stop your ‘event brain’ from continuing to work.

Unavailable, unavailable, unavailable
Put yourself first and say no to social engagements. Okay, I know this might be hard for some because us event planners are service oriented creatures.
Can you set expectations for your friends and family around event time? For example the week prior to an event you could say “I’m really sorry but I’ll be staying in this week as I have a big event next week.”
The days leading up to an event, preserve your energy, you don’t need to be out late or in social settings where you could catch a horrible cold or flu.

Do you have any pre-event rituals? I would love to hear from you, leave me a comment below and I’ll be sure to reply.
Keep running events, connecting people and changing lives.
x Kim
