About Melbourne Museum
Melbourne Museum is a unique wedding reception and function venue on the outskirts of Melbourne’s CBD.
In addition to the galleries, the Museum’s numerous spaces offer a wide variety of event backdrops. Each space can be brought to life, from the beauty of Treetops overlooking a living rainforest to the blank canvas of Touring Hall which can seat up to 650 people.
Venue Information
Located in Carlton Gardens opposite the historic Royal Exhibition Building, it is the largest museum in the southern hemisphere.
The Melbourne Museum’s award-winning design displays an innovative combination of space, texture and shapes; from soaring glass walls to bold, bright columns.
The venue boasts eight main galleries with permanent collections such as Science & Life and The Melbourne Story featuring the museum’s most popular object, Phar Lap.
Birrarung, set within Bunjilaka Gallery is a living cultural centre made up of several key gallery spaces for Victoria’s indigenous community and can seat up to 450 guests for a cocktail party.
The Main Foyer and Walk is the Museum’s largest function space, and can hold up to 2,000 people for a cocktail party. It is an ideal space for large welcome receptions complete with state of the art lighting.
