About Melbourne Town Hall

Host your next event at a place where Melbourne’s most prestigious events have been held and historical moments captured; a place where the Federation was debated; a place where the Beatles greeted thousands of adoring fans.

EPICURE provides all catering at Melbourne Town Hall in consultation with renowned Celebrity Chef, Teage Ezard, owner of Gingerboy, ezard and BLACK by ezard. Favouring local suppliers, they aim to reduce their carbon footprint by supporting homegrown, environmentally sustainable produce. It goes to the heart of the Epicurean philosophy--creating happiness through good food, good wine, good friends--in a way that does no harm. This approach means they are constantly researching suppliers who produce food of exceptional quality using humane methods.

Whether catering for a grand seated event with 400 guests in the Main Hall, or a cocktail party for 80 on the Portico Balcony, Melbourne Town Hall offers a superb suite of rooms and spaces for all kinds of events.

Main Hall Main Hall is one of Melbourne Town Hall’s most impressive and glamorous function spaces. Including a grand staircase, adjoining marble foyer with stained glass windows, seventy-foot ceilings crowned with glittering chandeliers, magnificent 800 seat balcony sweeps, and walls adorned with delicate stencilling and authentic wood-panelling. Main Hall’s centrepiece is one of the most beautiful pipe organs in the world; the original wood-carved Grand Organ is the largest in the southern hemisphere. Main Hall is the natural home for extravaganzas: full orchestras and choirs, multi-media product launches, dinner dances, wedding receptions, corporate functions and car launches.

Swanston Hall Beneath an intricately beautiful lighting dome, Swanston Hall’s rich green tones, timber panelling, and art deco grace invite you to enjoy a refined atmosphere of cultivation and finesse. This mezzanine level is perfect for pre-function drinks, refreshment breaks, seminars and dinner functions.

Yarra Room Formerly the Council Chamber for the City of Melbourne, this gracious room imparts gravitas and dignity to any type of event. Featuring an in-house sound system, and in close proximity to a variety of break-out rooms, the Yarra Room is ideal for seminars, meetings and weddings.

Portico Room & Balcony Perched over Swanston Walk, the marble floor and ornate stonework combine to produce a remarkable space, from which guests view the Arts Centre spire framed between Flinders Street Station and St Paul’s Cathedral. The balcony of the Portico Room is the ultimate location for sensational cocktail parties and enchantingly beautiful wedding ceremonies.

Supper Room The only room on the third floor, the Supper Room is all nineteenth-century elegance, lush textures and exclusivity. The Supper Room conveys aristocratic charm at its most refined -- a place to feel like royalty. Ideal for weddings and special dinners its unique features will enhance your event beyond expectations. With an adjacent anteroom perfect for pre-dinner drinks, and natural light streaming in from enormous rooftop windows, this superb space is ideal for glamorous weddings and special dinners.

Melbourne Room With elevated views over Swanston Walk and Collins Street, the Melbourne Room is awash with natural light, elegant period charm, and decorated with priceless antiques and rich timber finishes. The Melbourne Room is ideal for formal luncheons, conferences, product launches, cocktail parties, or even a private bridal suite.

Regent Room Overlooking Collins Street, the Regent Room is awash with period charm and natural light. The Regent Room is an excellent space for boardroom meetings.

Council Chambers Take a step back in time with the impressive council chambers. Ornate ceilings, intricately carved wood panelling and light-filled stain glass windows are sure to impress your guests. Ideal for wedding ceremonies or presentations.
